NotD - Gradient Glitter

I've been seeing gradient manicures on various nail blogs a lot, most recently gildedangel's Missing Lincoln Park. I had painted my nails black last night, so I thought I'd try this gradient thing. And I love the result, so you get a bunch of photos today (remember to click them for lots of shiny).

For the black base I used these products:

  • OPI Nail Envy - 2 coats
  • Revlon 999 Blackest Black - 2 coats
  • Seche Vite
I started with a basic black nail last night. Blackest Black is a bit thin, but applies well and is faily opaque, ironically it contains some very subtle blue microglitter.

Today I added partial layers of these polishes to achieve the gradient look:

  • claire's polish in black with silver microglitter
  • Eyeko Cosmic Polish
  • China Glaze Snow Globe
  • Barry M Nail Paint 244 Hologram Hexagrams
  • claire's clear polish with glitter in various shapes and sizes
  • Seche Vite
After quite a few layers, mostly Snow Globe, this is the result:

Unfocused glitter, doesn't it look amazing?

Have you tried gradient nails?
