NotD - Firefly

This is a theme I've been meaning to do for some time, but I kept procrastinating because of the freehand skills I don't possess. So feel free to mock me, my Chinese calligraphy is worse than my Greek or Etruscan handwriting. Because I don't know any Chinese other than Firefly-isms. ;-)
Anyway, here's my Firefly manicure, you get to see six fingers, which is a pretty good average.

I used more than this, but didn't want to list all the polishes I used for filling in.

  • Sally Hansen miracle cure
  • LOOK by BIPA Ridge Filler
  • ArtDeco High Gloss 59
  • MaxFactor nailfinity 730 tropical spirit
  • Icing Cocoa
  • Spooky Nails 2 in 1 nail tattoo liner black
  • Seche Vite

After applying the base coats I painted nine nails with two coats of Icing Cocoa. The left middle finger was fully covered with one coat of ArtDeco 59 and then partially covered  - leaving a couple of millimetres on the sides free - with nailfinity 730. I sealed all nails with Seche Vite as I prefer to have a smooth and stabile surface for freehand nail art.

Then I grabbed my nail art pen and added the 'Serenity' lettering to my middle finger.

I considered leaving the rest of my nails bare, for a puristic Browncoat effect, but then got the urge to draw one of Wash's dinos. Thus each remaining nail got a simple little design for each member of Serenity's crew.

On my left hand I have a wonky ballet slipper, a T. Rex (or it might be Godzilla), the button-y bit of Mal's suspenders (that man made suspenders hot) and hidden on my thumb there's a little tea cup ('cause I find Inara incredibly bland).

On the right hand only two came out decently, a butterfly (shiny!) and Jayne's hat (hands up, everyone who has one *jerks hand up*). I have Zoe's necklace on my pinkie, I couldn't think of anything good for Book and Simon, so they got a squiggly scalpel and the corner of a bible (no way there's gonna be a whole bible on my nail). Then all nails were sealed with Seche Vite.

So, Firefly: yea or nay? My best friend introduced me to that wonder of awesomeness and I developed a serious crush on Jayne and River... :-P

Looks good! Hey, your Chinese writing isn't any worse than the cast's Chinese accents. :D

I've done an EoTD based on the 'verse...and created an eyecolor Blue Sun. Now I just have to actually wear that color! (It's in rotation...)

Thanks, LiAnn. :-)
And that's a lovely EotD!

LiAnn's comment made me laugh out loud; she's right, the cast's accents were terrible. I love thee. Your nails look fantastic :)

I love it. I've seen even more terrible Hand-writing in Chinese and yours turned out really good. And it's not the easiest to learn (esp. the writing). I've taken some classes in it and it is still hard to learn- even for native speakers.

Oh yes! I think Firefly is made of equal parts of Awesome, Win and Genius. Thanks, Krystal! :-)

That is super great. I can barely manage a nail brush without making my hands look like they were done by a 7 year old, so I bow down before your superior skills. Seriously, crazy good. Also, there should always be more Firefly nails in the world. Thank you, you have made my day.
