NotD - Lavender Holo French

I've been busy today, fixing my borked blog roll and finally changing the layout of this blog (I'd be happy to hear what you think, by the way), so I just did a quick french manicure. I haven't done many of those because they're not my favourite, but on occasion I feel like something 'classic.' ;-)
Only problem: my camera really doesn't like light colours and I can't get it to stop overexposing.

Today's list of polishes:

  • Sally Hansen miracle cure
  • LOOK by BIPA Ridge Filler
  • Alessandro Pro White Hologram Lavender
  • essence french manicure& pedicure pen
  • Seche Vite
I started with one coat each of the base coats and Alessandro Hologram Lavender. It's almost enough for a basic manicure as the lavender polish does whiten a bit, but I prefer my tips a bit brighter than an optical whitener can achieve.

Then I gave the french manicure pen a try (I believe Nailene and Sally Hansen also make such pens). It works like a felt tip pen, but I much prefer a liner brush. The pen is easy to use, but the line isn't as neat as I'd like and works best on a bare nail: if the base isn't completely dry the tip will sink in and stick.
I had to use a fine dotting tool to even out the edge.

I finished my manicure with another coat of the Hologram Lavender polish and a coat of Seche Vite.

Have you tried french manicure pens? How did they work for you.

Thank you, gildedangel. I'm so excited to finally get rid of the boring prefab-layout and to have space for all the blogs I love (123... scary)!
